Compliance needs a mindset, not a pamphlet
Although agile project methods are now increasingly spreading out of software development into a wide range of business areas, compliance departments and compliance projects are usually neglected in the agile transformation. With that in mind, I would like to use my blog post to explore the question of whether compliance departments and projects can benefit from agile methods and approaches that involve an iterative and transparent approach.

Two thinking systems and their influence in software development
The day-to-day work in software development is work that requires a lot of brainpower. It involves high cognitive demands and skills in which perception and attention play a special role. The problem with this is that the way people think can be distorted. A distorted way of thinking leads to thinking traps and consequently to mistakes. Anyone who has mastered a few perceptual-psychological basics can adapt their way of working and especially their programming style in a way that avoids thinking traps and recognises mistakes more quickly.

Projections for (large) agile projects
Interim and completion forecasts are just as important in large agile projects as they are in traditional projects. Unfortunately, the Scrum Guide is no help at all here and classic methods are inadequate in most cases due to the complexity of the requirements. However, simple statistics and a transparent estimation method can be used to arrive at a reliable forecast. I will explain how this works in my blog post.

A journey to good software
My goal in software development is to build programmes and features that people need and like to use. Only on the way did I slowly realise that simply writing code would probably not be enough. This journey continues to this day. In my blog post, I would like to share the crucial insights and changes of mind I had and give you an idea of what the world of software development is like.

Using vision videos to support software development projects
Once a software development project has been completed, one of the major signs that it was successful is if the end product meets the customer’s expectations. For this to happen, what the customer wants has to be communicated to the project team, which then needs to implement everything on a technical level. This is where vision videos can help. I will explain exactly what these are in my blog post.

Cloud migration – Let’s get specific, please!
Many companies struggle to develop a true cloud strategy. In addition, it’s often unclear which concrete steps have to be taken to transfer the applications after the decisions to switch to the cloud and which cloud provider to use have been made. In my blog post, I’d like to fill this gap by presenting concrete steps on how to proceed so that decision-makers can get started effectively.
Read moreAgile approaches are now very widely accepted. Scrum is often used as a framework and fixed events (meetings) are specified, among other things. Projects in the insurance industry often employ an agile approach, too. Despite that, employees and stakeholders sometimes harbour prejudices. I used to be project controller in a previous life, during which time I was involved in an agile project and was confronted with prejudices at the beginning. In my blog post, I would like to talk about prejudices and my own practical experiences regarding agile approaches based on Scrum.
