adesso contributes to the digitalisation of the healthcare sector

The healthcare sector is a dynamic industry that reaps the benefits of digitalisation in a number of areas. One of these is digital communication between service and health insurance providers. This requires not only communication standards such as those set by SHIP or the ‘Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information’, for example, but also specialist and technical expertise in development and problem solving – adesso combines both, thereby contributing significantly to the digitalisation of the Swiss healthcare sector.

adesso Schweiz AG is a consultancy and IT service provider with years of experience in the healthcare sector. Its portfolio includes the development of a modern, simple and user-friendly patient administration system for a service provider within the telemedicine sector, for example. It similarly developed a patient management system for one of the largest Swiss telemedicine providers in 2014. For its latest project, it merged its upgraded solution with Microsoft’s ‘Power BI’ data visualisation application to ensure that managers could receive easy access to the best decision-making tools. This solution also allows data to be acquired and reported quickly and cost-efficiently, thereby laying the future groundwork for the full automation of a number of different processes.

Another example that underpins adesso’s strong expertise within the Swiss healthcare sector is the further development of processes between service and health insurance providers. adesso has been commissioned by a large regional hospital in Switzerland to optimise the cost coverage and undertak-ing process for health insurance providers. The SHIP-based standard needs to be optimised in terms of automation, digitalisation and conformance. adesso is analysing the current processes using the latest technology, models optimisations on the basis of the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) and will make recommendations on how business processes and IT architecture should be designed in the future. adesso is utilising the combination of its sound IT, industry and consultancy expertise in addressing the needs of the market.

A look over the border to the headquarters of the adesso Group shows that the company also has a strong presence as a service provider for the healthcare sector in the German market. adesso SE also provides services for the electronic patient file (ePA) through its cooperation with the technology manufacturer Research Industrial Systems Engineering (RISE) Forschungs-, Entwicklungs- und Grossprojektberatung GmbH. The aim of the German ePA is to create a highly standardised and secure infrastructure for health insurance companies and providers so that they can make the ePA available to their members securely and reliably from July 2022.

Hansjörg Süess, CEO and Delegate of the Board of Directors of adesso Schweiz AG, gives his analysis of the current situation in the sector: ‘The healthcare sector is constantly changing, which has been shown once again with the Swiss Federal Council’s most recent decision regarding the tariff model for doctors. This opens up the door to new possibilities once you factor in the potential for digitalisation in the healthcare sector that the Covid-19 pandemic demonstrated. One thing that comes to mind in this respect is the application of artificial intelligence in the fields of pathology and preventative medicine, which appears to be heading in the best direction of precision medicine. I also believe that there is an increasing need for holistic partners and services in the healthcare sector, and an integrated, digitalised system will key to this. We at adesso find this very exciting.’
