Insurance provider Mobiliar Versicherungsgesellschaft AG (Mobiliar for short) is one of Switzerland’s leading cooperative insurance groups. Mobiliar’s activities include the insurance and pension business for customers in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Initial situation

Mobiliar is using a major project initiative to press forward with its digitalization strategy, modernise its entire system landscape and get it ready for the future via a microservices architecture. Products are being modernised, core processes are being made more efficient and digital touchpoints for customers and staff are being made more user friendly thanks to the acceleration of end-to-end digitalisation for general and life policies. adesso is involved in the digitalisation project and is assisting the customer in the area of contract management/invoicing.

Solution

adesso’s development team is responsible for premium invoicing for legal expenses policies both for new business and the invoicing runs for existing insurance policies according to the invoicing period. To this end, the relevant data is read from the upstream microservices, calculated pro rata (if necessary) and prepared to be transferred to the SAP accounting system. Kafka is used to transfer the data to SAP. The work for this subprocess is currently in its final phase (as of February 2021). adesso’s quality engineer is currently involved in preparing the end-to-end test and a mass test, both of which will take place in the second quarter of the year and both of which must be successful. One of the project’s interim goals is to move invoicing via SAP into pre-rollout by mid-2021.

In order to implement this progressive project and meet its demanding requirements, SAFe, a framework for scaled agility developed by Scaled Agile Inc., was chosen as the process model. This process offers maximum flexibility and allows you to implement your project quickly, guaranteeing that it will be a success.

The strategy-based project portfolio management – designed around the strategic fields of action in the portfolio Kanban board – ensures that the implementation blocks are perfectly aligned with the strategy.

adesso’s industry expertise enables it to guide Mobiliar through its digital transformation with the help of a complete team, consisting of a Scrum Master, testers and a software developer. adesso’s shoring concept meant that a qualified project team could be put together with staff from adesso Schweiz AG and adesso Austria GmbH in no time at all. Using DevOps to implement the project in a distributed team is highly typical of the adesso SmartShore philosophy.
