International expansion: adesso establishes second nearshore site in Europe

IT service provider adesso is now also represented in Bulgaria. Through the new national subsidiary in Sofia, adesso is expanding its nearshore set-up in Southern Europe, which it has already successfully established in Turkey. Thanks to the outsour-cing model, companies from the German-speaking region stand to benefit from cost savings for services relating to software development, maintenance and testing.

Under the adesso SmartShore brand, employees at adesso locations in Germany have already been partnering successfully for five years with their Turkish colleagues at the development centre in Istanbul. adesso is now extending the tested nearshore model to the new location in the EU member state of Bulgaria, which will augment the team in Istanbul for outsourcing projects.

Dr Rüdiger Striemer is in charge of the company’s internationalisation efforts. “We have the opportunity in Sofia to offer our customers nearshore development with related cost benefits under the conditions of trusted EU standards. That means less red tape for doing joint business,” he says, explaining this latest step.

Yordan Terziev (32) will head the adesso subsidiary in the role of managing director. Over the last 13 years, Terziev, who hails from Bulgaria, first completed his computer science degree in Germany and then began working in this field. His qualifications, along with his knowledge of the German language and culture, make him the perfect person for managing an adesso location in Bulgaria.

“adesso’s SmartShore business in Sofia is our primary goal for the time being,” Terziev says, describing the business model. “To this end, we will be helping adesso Turkey on projects for companies from the German-speaking region and taking part in public tenders together with adesso AG in Germany.” The long-term objective is to offer the entire adesso portfolio at the Sofia site – “like our sister companies in Spain,” Terziev says.

adesso has already used its SmartShore offering in numerous projects for leading banks, insurance companies and automakers. The Istanbul location has developed in keeping with demand. At the moment, 140 software experts are already working there, and that figure is set to rise. adesso Turkey was once again one of the country’s fastest growing software companies this year.

With currently 17 locations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Spain, the adesso Group enjoys a good degree of coverage in large parts of Europe. The branch in Istanbul and the new pillars in Sofia and Barcelona also represent key strategic sales positions in both the eastern and western portions of Southern Europe.
